Akiyo Fujita — Munich, Germany

Location: Munich, Germany

Akiyo’s back ground is as professional ballet dancer. She started Pilates at the age of 16 at the Royal Ballet School in London. Pilates influenced her greatly especially during a challenging period with a foot injury. Long term, Pilates practice and in depth movement exploration with BASI Pilates lead to her becoming a mat certified BASI pilates trainer and a Pre & Post Natal specialist in 2008 and a fully certified pilates trainer in 2015.

Akiyo found Scolio-Pilates through Julie Selwood ( a principal educator of Scolio-Pilates ) when she was struggling to find the correct way to teach her clients with scoliosis. She was deeply impressed and inspired by Julie’s precise work. It was so heart-warming to see her client getting comfort, reassurance and support with appropriate movement.

Akiyo started to learn about scoliosis to prepare herself for the Scolio-Pilates seminars which were held in Europe for the very first time in 2019. She continued to explore and study Scolio-Pilates into the Mentorship phase and successfully became an Authorized Scolio-Pilates Practitioner in September 2020.

Akiyo has been running her own company, Pilates Creation since 2012, offering various classes in Munich. She loves the feeling of well-being through Pilates. Pilates helps refresh and rebalance the mind and body for a positive approach to life leading to a quality of life by enhancing the daily performance and increasing creativity.
