Master Pilates & Yoga Instructor, Judy Heany, guides students through classes and trainings to harness their inner strength, in a safe, effective and fun way.
Judy has sought, over the last two decades, the highest levels of training from the most reputable teachers possible. A Philadelphia native, Judy originally studied with “Best of Philly” alums David Newman from Yoga on Main and Janine Galati at Alternative Health and Fitness in 2000-2001 before heading to the Caribbean for four years. During her time in the islands, Judy was the resident instructor for Pilates and Yoga at both The Self Centre at Caneel Bay in St. John and the Ritz Carlton in St. Thomas.
Since her return to the US in 2005, Judy completed Comprehensive Pilates training with Carol Beringer at Pilates & More in Wayne, PA and deepened her Pilates knowledge about adaptations and modifications for scoliosis and osteoporosis from Master Instructors, Michele Larsson and Karena Teck Lineback, and Rebekah Rotstein. She is also one of the only Pilates Method Alliance Certified Instructors in South Jersey. In 2014, Judy became faculty of the Balanced Body Pilates Instructor Training Program.
Judy advanced her Yoga training as well since her return to the states. After meeting Sadie Nardini seven years ago, Judy trained and hosted her mentor many times and is currently one of the few Master Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga Instructors & Yoga Shred Teacher Trainers on the East Coast. She’s had the opportunity to study at intensives with Judith Hanson Lasater, Shiva Rea, Doug Swenson, Simon Park, and Dharma Mittra. She is one of the only Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200 Instructors in the area allowing Judy to offer a 200 Hour RYT Yoga Teacher Training Program and Yoga Shred Instructor Trainings at her home studio in Cape May @ Balance.
In 2016, Judy graduated from the Barberio School of Massage in Linwood and began offering Relaxing, Therapeutic and Thai Yoga Massage. She has completed over 100 hours of training in Thai massage with teachers Michael Buck and Rose Griscom prior to this comprehensive training.
Judy celebrates Balance Pilates & Yoga Studio’s 14th season of practice and teaching in Cape May this year. She continues to provide the safest and most effective training in Pilates & Yoga for the community. Her vision for Balance is to hold space for students near and far to experience true and deep transformation and empowerment from the inside out.
