K2 For Spine Decompression

Your new K2 Wedge allows for supported back extension and creates feedback for the client activation of the deep muscles, especially the transverse abdominals. K2 allows clients to get decompression of the spine in a very gentle way, not unlike hanging upside down on an inversion table.  Design advantages of K2 wedge enable space between the vertebrae, with a neutral pelvic posture, without the blood rushing to the client’s head!

K-Wedge

The K-Wedge is a Scolio-Pilates support tool designed to help people with scoliosis find spinal length, reduce compression, and explore a more balanced, organized position—using the power of gravity and their own body.

Shaped to gently incline the body, the K-Wedge encourages spinal elongation and decompression, allowing the tissues around the spine to soften and expand. This length creates space—space to breathe more fully, space to sense alignment more clearly, and space to move with intention rather than tension.

Without external resistance bands or straps, the K-Wedge invites you to strengthen through internal resistance. Small lifts, reaches, weight shifts, and controlled movements ask your body to stabilize itself, activating deep core and postural muscles. As you move, you learn how to create length actively and then support that length with strength.

This internal work improves proprioception—the body’s awareness of where it is in space—helping you recognize when your spine feels longer, more centered, and easier to hold. Over time, this awareness supports better organization when you return to upright positions, making the benefits of your practice more transferable to daily life.

Simple, versatile, and deeply effective, the K-Wedge is ideal for those who want a focused tool for elongation, decompression, and mindful strengthening—guided by the body itself.

Elongate. Breathe. Strengthen.
The foundation of Scolio-Pilates, in its purest form.

Benefits of the K1 and K2 spine Wedges

Wedge Type

K2

K1

The original spine wedge Modified from the original
Height 23 cm | 9 inches 20 cm | 8 inches
Pelvic Plateau 15 cm | 6 inches 10 cm | 4 inches
Inclination 30-degrees 21 degrees
Benefit 1 More inversion for increased elongation with gravity Less inversion helps those who need less elongation, i.e. those with spine pain or discomfort
Benefit 2 A larger wedge can be helpful for those over 172 cm (5’8″) A smaller wedge can be helpful for smaller frames and children (those under 172 cm  (5’8″)
Benefit 3 The pelvic plateau realigns  pelvic rotation
Benefit 4 The firm foam prevents rotation and collapse of the spine, shoulders, and neck
Benefit 5 Stabilizes the spine while allowing movement of the limbs for spine strengthening
Benefit 6 The right angle of the pelvic plateau allows the thighs to drop down (disassociate from the pelvis), encouraging neutral alignment of the pelvis
Benefit 7 Sloping wedge guides and supports the spine into elongation without allowing for anterior pelvic tilt or spine extension
