It’s about learning everything we can about your curve and about your lifestyle so that we can give you the advice that will help you most. How long are the sessions? Each private session is one hour. If you are scheduling your first class with me, please plan on schedule two hours (or essentially two private sessions).
How do I schedule? Email me, Karena, at Karena@OsteoPilates.com. Let’s make sure that our schedules match up and let’s also figure out what part of the country/planet I am in first. I spend part of the year in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside of Washington DC, and I spend part of the year in California in a beach town called Oxnard. With all the traveling that we do to teach (see our event page) you may be able to schedule a private with me in your hometown of Tokyo or Paris or wherever we may be. In any case, email me FIRST.
How do I reserve a session? Next, you will want to pay for your first hour above. Even if you are scheduling a multi-day intensive where you will be staying many hours over the course of many days, please just pay the first hour to reserve your intensive.
What’s an intensive? Great question. Intensives are a way for us to work together intensively when we don’t live near enough to one another to schedule weekly or monthly visits. They are scheduled over several days and we work together for several hours each day.
How many days should I schedule my intensive be? Your choice. It can be 2-30 days. Most clients (60% of clients) choose between 3 and 5 days. Once in a while I have someone just do one day and sometimes a client will stay for an entire month.
How many hours do we work each day? Generally, 3 hours. We usually work two hours in the morning, followed by a 2-hour break, followed 1-hour in the afternoon.
I’m not in the best shape I’ve ever been in. Do you think I can do this for 3 hours a day? Yes, most likely. The program is designed for you. Wherever you are in terms of strength and ability, we will meet you there. Remember, the program is not just about the exercise but it is about the information. You will be learning a lot of exercises you can do at home, but you will also be taking home a lot of new information.
How will I know what to do at home? You will receive a home exercise program notebook. This notebook will have all of your Scolio-Pilates exercises with any special notes from me, your practitioner, as to how to do your exercises correctly.
Can I take pictures and videos? Yes! Please do. We want you to go home with the best opportunity to replicate your exercises at home.
How can I stay in touch with you once I am home? What if I have questions about my program? If you have quick questions that don’t require a lot of detail, we can communicate via email. If you need a refresher, then I recommend we meet via Skype. See details below about meeting via Skype.
An Online Skype Session is a wonderful way to work with Scolio-Pilates® author and founder, Karena Thek. From the comfort of your own home, your one-hour lesson will help you answer some of the questions you may have as well as get you started with a Scolio-Pilates program. For best results, be sure to email Karena a copy of your radiographs (Xrays or MRI’s) before the appointment along with the medical report that accompanies your radiographs.
What you’ll learn at your Online Skype Session:
Your Curve Type. With your Xray or MRI, Karena can help you determine what kind of curve you have. For exercise purposes, we classify curves as C, 3 or 4 Curve Scoliosis.
Exercises for your curve type. Once your curve type is determined, Karena can help you find the best exercises for your curve. She can point you to the correct free videos on the ScolioPilates YouTube page or if time permits, begin to give you exercises during the session that she feels will be best for you. Sending back your client intake (see below) before the session begins will help you get the most of your first appointment.
When you purchase an Online Skype Session, we need you to do two things:

Frequently Asked Questions about Online Skype Sessions
I don’t have Skype. How do I get it? Go online and search for “Skype”. You’ll see their listing. Click on it. Download Skype. It’s Free! Open an Account. Please let me know the name and email on your account so I can contact you. That’s it! You’re all done. Oh, also… In order for you to use Skype, your Skype window will have to be open. It doesn’t automatically open when someone tries to call you.
How often should I schedule a Skype session? Great question. It’s different for everyone. Many work with me once just to learn the curve type and then continue on with the exercises on YouTube or in the book, Scolio-Pilates. Others continue weekly via Skype for the one-on-one attention to detail for maximum results. Some of our weekly clients first do an intensive with us at the home studio and continue weekly with this online assistance with their home exercise program. Our advice to you? Do what works for you. We want you to achieve great results.
